Divus Augustus, died AD 14. Dupondius (Orichalcum, 29 mm, 16.06 g, 6 h), Rome, struck under Gaius (Caligula), 37-41. DIVVS•AVGVSTVS / S - C Radiate head of Divus Augustus to left. Rev. CONSENSV SENAT ET•EQ•ORDIN•P•Q•R• Gaius, togate, seated to left on curule chair, holding olive branch in his right hand and globe in his left. BMC 88. CBN 134. Cohen 87. RIC 56. A beautiful coin with a lovely brown and green patina and a very attractive portrait. Minor smoothing, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
